on the other.The entrance hall of the Montrealhas rub-ber-tiled floor and is paneled in dark mahoganyrelieved by large bronze pictures in relief. The arrangement of the upper saloons andstaterooms is much the same as on the steamerKingston. The main stairway to the uppersaloon is in the entrance hall, and in lront ofthe landing space at the top of the stairway isthe stairway to the gallery deck. The totalnumber of staterooms is 260, including twentyparlor rooms with bath rooms attached. The stair and gallery railings are of bronze leaf work. The furniture is of dark mahogany and green plush, and it, as well as the general ornamentation of the upper saloon is in Louis XV. style. The dome ceiling is more richly ornamented than usual with heavy scroll work, and its leadingfeatures are two large allegor-ical paintings, representing theperiods of the day. At the headof the staircase is a large paint-ing of Cardinal Richelieu by anoted artist. SteamerQuebecis a sister ship to the Montreal.
