soft starter for compressors

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Soft starters are electronic devices that reduce the voltage during motor start. This results in a lower starting current and also reduce mechanical stresses on shafts, belts and gears. Soft starters typically use silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) also known as thyristors to achieve this result. The control algorithm generally relies on what is known as phase angle switching.
