[edit]
Description
English: A 2nd Royal Canadian Regiment soldier, Pvt. Jung Sung fastens his safety device before being submerged under water as part of Shallow Water Egress Training at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, June 30, in support of the 2010 Rim of the Pacific Exercise. The training teaches personnel how to escape from a submerged helicopter. In addition to this training, U.S. Marines qualified Australian, Malaysian and Tongan forces in Marine weapons safety so they would all be ready for their participation in RIMPAC, a biennial exercise that stresses interoperability of all partner nations as a key element of regional stability. The exercise is scheduled through August 1 in the waters around the Hawaiian Islands with forces comprised of 14 nations, 32 ships, five submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 20,000 personnel.
