Description

This was my bus ride home today! It has a very dodgy sounding semi-automatic gear box. It seemed to change gears randomly at the wrong time... Anyway, RIL1475 is an interesting old beast, a Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/2R Plaxton Paramount 3200 IIE and is seen here driving past Mere after operating the 4109 "Mere Car Park" school route from Gillingham. The bus was new to London Country waaaay back in January 1985 as B268KPF. From September 1986 to October 1990, it was part of London Country North West's fleet as TP68. Then it was transferred to Luton & District until March 1992. It was then acquired by Docherty, Auchterarder from March 1992 to March 1997. Then it passed to Edwards, Tiers Cross and was re registered WJB 490. In March 1999 it was acquired by Wake's, Wincanton and re-registered into its current form. In January 2000 it transferred to South West Coaches, where it remains today (the longest single operator of this bus) What an interesting bus and a great history to it! Not sure how long it'll survive for though... It is now over 28 years old. See if it survives to 30 or maybe it'll be preserved which is always nice.
