Datierung: 2./3. Jahrhundert n. Chr. FO: Rheinland Beschreibung nach Museumstafel: Mithras - ursprünglich ein orientalischer Lichtgott - wird seit dem 1. Jahrhundert n. Chr. auch in den germanischen Provinzen verehrt. Vorwiegend Händler und Kaufleute, aber auch Soldaten ließen sich in den Mysterienkult einweihen. Die Tötung des Stiers durch Mithras symbolisiert die Entstehung einer neuen Weltordnung. Das sich erneuernde Leben zeigt sich besonders deutlich in den Getreideähren, die aus dem Schwanz des Tieres wachsen. English: Mithraic Tauroctony relief
