RF probe with high frequency vacuum tube diode

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: RF probe with high frequency vacuum tube diode for the "E-0401" Vacuum-Tube Voltmeter.

The reason for putting the diode in the probe was to increase usable bandwidth by decreasing shunt capacitance from the interconnect cable. Once you reduce the signal to DC you can send it along a cable without regard to length or absolute capacitance. The isolation resistor in the probe tip will reduce load circuit at RF frequencies.

The E-0401 has been manufactured by IEMI (Întreprinderea de Aparate Electronice de Măsură şi Industriale) Bucharest, Romania, 1970s.
