English: The mine in Baiyun Ebo, Inner Mongolia, China, which is the site of almost half the world's rare earth element (REE) production. This image was taken by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on board the NASA research satellite Terra. The image covers an area of 15 × 19 km.
Deutsch: Die Bayan-Obo-Mine in der Inneren Mongolei, einem autonomen Gebiet in der Volksrepublik China. Fast die Hälfte der Weltproduktion der Metalle der Seltenen Erden stammt aus dieser Mine.
