Description
English: Pictured is ground attack Mk XVI Spitfire, with clipped wingtips to improve low altitude manoeuvrability.

TE311 rolled off the production line at Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands on June 8 1945. Too late for the war, it was used mainly as a pilot trainer. operated by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, BBMF, took part in the RAF100 Flypast over Buckingham Palace today. With the Dakota, Lancaster, three Spitfires and two Hurricanes in the formation, the flight passed Buckingham Palace and The Mall just after 1300.

The RAF celebrated its 100th Birthday on 1st April 2018, with a flypast of up o 100 aircraft taking place on 10th July 2018.
