Description
English: A Royal Air Force aircrew member is pictured leaning out of a Chinook helicopter during an exercise over the North African desert. The aircrewman is communicating any hazards and the approximate altitude of the helicopter to the pilot who may not be able to see the same view, as the aircraft comes into land.

Exercise Jebel Sahara was Royal Air Force exercise held in North Africa aimed at getting Chinook Pilots and Aircrew prepared for conditions in the Middle East. Working alongside Army Air Core Lynx helicopters and an array of ground support personnel, the Chinook pilots and aircrew practiced dust landings and underslung load carrying among other vital tasks.
