[edit]DescriptionRAFBF 90th Birthday Air Show, East Kirkby - geograph.org.uk - 1431252.jpg |
English: RAFBF 90th Birthday Air Show, East Kirkby This is Donald demonstrating a WWI Lee Enfield rifle. He belonged the 2266 Spilsby branch of the ATC, which closed in 2005. He also worked for Smalls Gents Outfitters in Spilsby, but that closed too. This year in fact.
This event, which ran from 10am to 5pm, saw displays from various vintage aircraft including Mustangs, Hurricanes, and the Swift Aerobatic Display Team. The event was held in support of the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF's leading welfare charity. Also featuring on the day was a taxy run by a Lancaster bomber, as well as stalls dedicated to RAF Recruitment, Honda, the Red Arrows, Classic Cars and aviation artists. There was also model aircraft displays, re-enactments, 1940's dancers, and static aircraft to walk around. The event, which this year was supported and covered by FlyPast Magazine, saw all money raised on the day going to the RAF Benevolent Fund and towards the restoration of the Lancaster NX611. |
