Pumpkin seeds cannot be planted very early with any certainty of suecesfa. They delight in a ' good rich, warm soil, and they are rank feeders and are at their best in a warm, and moist soil. There cannot be too much sunshine for them. Their greatest values lies in their good feeding qualities for stock, but they are the delight of many families for making pies. The small varie ties are the finest grained; sweetest, and best for family use. There is no easier crop to grow for feeding to stock, and it assists very much in helping along with the more solid foods. In their growth, the vines covers a wide space of groimd,;and therefore should be planted in hills a long ^ ^ . . , , ^ , distance apart, but if planted nearer, thin out to only one or two good plants to each hill. Pumpkins are sold in the markets in large quantities every fall and are considered a very profitable crop. The large field and cheese varieties are very well known but not by any means the best quality. In my list of varieties will be found the distinct- ive qualities of each, and a description as to their size and shape, and much other information Tennessee Sweet Potato Piimpkin.
