Description
Deutsch: Hot Water Beach ist ein Strandabschnitt an der Pazifikküste etwa 12 km von der Kleinstadt Whitianga entfernt. Er befindet sich im Thames-Coromandel-Distrikt auf der Coromandel Peninsula der Nordinsel Neuseelands.
Halte ich für eine Brekzie, bei der die Matrix verwitterungsbeständiger ist, als die Komponenten. Zusammen mit Liesegangschen Ringen würde ich sowas in einem Hydrothermalgebiet durchaus erwarten. Aber was für ein Gestein? Sand- oder Kalkstein? Mergel? Matrix verkieselt, oder karbonatisch? Auf einem Foto kann man das nicht erkennen. Überhaupt sind Breckzien tückisch. Es gibt welche, die sehr ähnlich aussehen, obwohl sie eine ganz unterschiedliche Entstehung haben, und umgekehrt... Geoz Bin mir unschlüssig. Die Geologische Karte spricht von hier u.a. von bimssteinreichen Brekkzien mit Tufflagen. Dabei muss man beachten, dass die Gesteine durch das heiße Wasser mindestens bereichsweise zersetzt sind. Aber hier ist ohne den Hammer zu schwingen, kaum eine belastbare Aussage möglich. Ich kenne auch Kalksteine, die ähnlich aussehen. Kommentar: Geolina
