Salles de l'exposition Cindy Sherman : séries des années 1980 (au moment de la fermeture)

On peut apprécier sur cette vue lorganisation des espaces du rez-de-bassin (niveau bas de la fondation) qui permet de bien identifier chaque série de photographies de l'artiste ainsi que les couleurs des cimaises qui ont été retenues pour rendre l'exposition particulièrement attractive.

Des photographies de Cindy Sherman sont présentes dans de nombreuses collections et musées d'art contemporain en Europe mais ce sont souvent les oeuvres de ses débuts (celles relatives aux images de cinéma) qui sont les plus connues.

La Fondation Louis Vuitton organise une rétrospective de son oeuvre, superbement scénographiée avec la participation de l'artiste, qui permet de mieux comprendre sa démarche, unique dans l'art contemporain. Cindy Sherman se représente, depuis ses débuts, sous des apparences féminines et même masculines toujours différentes, atteignant ainsi une forme d'universalité.
