Description
English: Quintillus (AD 270). Gold aureus (5.34 gm). Mediolanum. IMP C M AVR QVINTILLVS AVG, laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right, seen from front / FIDES EXERCITI, Fides standing left, holding two standards. Wealth of the Ancient World 147 = Lafaurie, RN 1958, pl. ix, 24 = Huvelin and Lafaurie, RN 1980, pl. viii, 54 = Calic? 3968 (same dies). Extremely rare: probably only the second known aureus of Quintillus with this reverse type, and one of less than a dozen aurei of this brief reign. Some minor contact marks on obverse. Small ding on edge at 3:00. About extremely fine
