Quick and dodgy large negative scan using a lightbox and a mobile

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is a very quick and bodge set up for taking a digital image from a mobile (cell) phone. The phone is using an app which can take images of negatives, this avoids having to take a standard image then using an app to post-process it. Books are used to get the lightbox the optimal distance to the phone, which is balanced on a shelf, though it is also possible to balance it on a pile of books. As the negative is not secured in a holder to keep it flat this may add to distortions which also occur especially at the edges as the negative is close to the lens. Some negative holders are available to purchase and a 3D-printed or custom made holder might also be possible and would reduce risk of dust contamination from the lightbox if held slightly off of it. Problems also occur if external light sources, sunlight through window or room lightbulb are not prevented from casting shadows, shades or a reflected bright spot on the image. It is also possible to knock the whole set-up flying with possible damage to the negative. A better set-up can be achieved with a secured high quality DSLR and macro lens.
