Summary
[edit]DescriptionQuentin Durward - Advertisement in Galignani's Messenger 1826.png | An advertisement in Galignani's Messenger of July 10, 1826 (page 4) for the steamship Quentin Durward. Do not pay too much attention to the drawing of the ship - that was used for most of the advertisements for steamships (an early example of a "stock photo"). The text was very detailed and also found space to mention that the competing firm, the General Steam Navigation Company did not have access to the Brighton Chain Pier and had to row their passengers and cargo ashore - weather permitting. The Galignani's Messenger was an English-language newspaper in Paris, published every day except Sunday. |
