Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Chart showing familial or marriage relationships between persons represented by their armorials sculpted in stone on the parapet of Queen Anne's Walk (alias The Mercantile Exchange), Barnstaple, Devon, England, built 1713. Largely based on pedigrees published in Vivian, Lt.Col. J.L., (Ed.) The Visitations of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620, Exeter, 1895 and History of Parliament biographies. Note: the familial relationship between Richard II Acland of Fremington, MP and his uncle Arthur Acland (1616-91), of Bittadon, MP,[1] is stated in the History of Parliament biography of the former[2]. Neither of these two prominent men are mentioned either in the Heraldic Visitations of Devon or in the biography of the Acland family by Anne Acland, and thus sank into obscurity before the publication of the History of Parliament biographies.
