Quebec Bridge

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Quebec Bridge In the Northern Highlands the few days up to the 26 Oct 2006 were very wet. With the ground saturated any more rainfall had nowhere to go except straight to the river systems. The 26th of Oct saw much of the northern Highlands get some seriously major rainfall.

Quebec Bridge in Glen Aldie was one of the Easter Ross casualties when drains further up the road failed to cope and the water then took its natural course down the road to the river, taking out the parapets and approaches to the bridge. It still stands unrepaired 16 months later.

Quebec Bridge is thought to be so called from the number of Canadians stationed in this area during the Great War. The Canadians were brought in to fell and extract the timber in the area which was needed for the war effort.
