Description
English: Lock number 3 of the Soulanges Canal, this part has been reconstructed using poured concreted and does not look like it will open..

Lock #3 is 85.34 X 1.83 X 65.5 meters (280X46X215 ft) and has a lift of 7.16 meters (23.5 ft)

The Soulanges Canal was constructed between Lake St Louis and Lake St Francis on the north bank of the St Lawrence. The canals provided a by-pass of the Cascades, and rapids.

The canal was started in 1891 and completed in 1899. The length was 24.14 kilometres (15 miles), and the depth 4.6 meters (15 ft). Five locks raised or lowered shipping a total of 25.6 meters (84 ft).
