English: Quay Street, Bangor. Looking along the line of pubs and hotels on Bangor's Quay Street.
The large Royal Hotel dominates the scene. This hotel is currently under threat of complete reconstruction by the current owners. Demolishing the current structure, they hope to build a new 14 storey structure to be known as "Royal View". If planning permission is granted, the hotel will include a tower resembling a huge lighthouse, understood to be around 170ft tall. This will be topped off by a 1,500sq ft restaurant, with views stretching over Belfast Lough. The hotel will have 52 bedrooms, 38 "luxury apartments", a 4,500sq ft ground-floor eaterie and car parking. See also 831836. |
