| Description |
English: Quartzite outcrop above Porth Wen It was these quartzite rocks of the Skerries Group of the Pre-Cambrian Mona Complex which provided the basis for the development of the brick making industry at Porthwen. The bricks produced were used for lining steel furnacea. The quartzite was quarried on the west side of the bay. Outstanding photos of the brickworks by Dave Sallery can be seen on the following link.
