| Description |
English: Quarry waste on St. George's Down Part of the quarrying activity are these two spoil heaps, showing two completely different extracts from pits adjacent to each other. St. George's Down is part of the west-east ridge across the Isle of Wight where the rock strata are vertical. (The extremities at Alum Bay and Culver Cliff show this feature perfectly). Therefore at this extensive quarry the different rock strata are also very close together. |
