This membranous portion is the narrowest diyisionof the urethra. In the middle its diameter is one-fifth of an inch : atthe end not quite so much. It is jDlaced beneath the pubic arch, theanterior concave surface being distant nearly an inch from the bone,leaving an interval, occupied by the dorsal vessels and nerves of thepenis, by areolar tissue, and some muscular fibres.
