Description
English: Pyromorphite, Baryte
Locality: Beihilfe Mine, Halsbrücke, Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 5.0 x 3.2 x 2.8 cm.
This classic German locality has produced some of the richest green Pyromorphites you’ll find from any world locality. They easily rival the finest Les Farges or Daoping Pyromorphites for color. With that said, I must stress that the photos of this specimen show a richer green color of the Pyromorphites than the piece appears in person. The crystals are actually a bit more of a yellow green than such a rich green as the photos indicate. They are still very attractive showing great luster and excellent translucency in areas. To top it off, the crystals are sitting atop white bladed Barite matrix. These specimens are not seen on the market in any quantity these days, and they truly are some of the most classic of all European Pyromorphites.
