Summary
[edit]DescriptionPumping wheelpit or wheelcase, Dalrhiw mine - geograph.org.uk - 1319141.jpg |
English: Pumping wheelpit or wheelcase, Dalrhiw mine Dalrhiw was mined for copper and lead in the mid to late 19th century. This wheelpit housed a 52-foot by 5-foot waterwheel. Flat-rods from a crank on the wheel axle ran in a gulley (line still visible bottom right) up to the shaft, where a T-rocker converted the motion to vertical to drive the pumps. |
