Italiano: "Parte della 'serie dei serenissimi principi', o 'serie aulica' di ritratti ufficiali dei membri più eminenti della famiglia Medici, composta oggi di 41 dipinti (Inv. 1890, nn. fra 2216 e 2257; 5232, 5240, e da 9160 a 9163). Cristina di Lorena (1565-1636) sposò Ferdinando I nel 1589; tenne la reggenza dopo la morte del marito nel 1606. Ritratto ufficiale commissionato da Ferdinando I de' Medici (insieme al proprio, inv. 1890, n. 2243; v. scheda) al Pulzone che venne a farlo apposta da Roma. La nuova granduchessa vi sfoggia la celebre corona granducale, opera di Jaques Bylevelt, orafo di corte: ma più che questo ritratto, che ne mostra impietosamente l'età, apprezzò quello quasi coevo di Santi di Tito (inv. 1890, n. 2430), di cui si conoscono più copie (sette) che di questo (una, inv. 1890, n. 2318, a figura intera). Stette fino al 1780 nel corridoio di levante, (cfr. disegno 4506 F di T. Arrighetti), poi nel tratto lungarno del corridoio vasariano, poi in deposito; dal 1930 al 1973 nel Museo mediceo; dal 1975 al Museo degli Argenti." |
