Description
Español: San Pedro de Atacama es un pequeño poblado ubicado en uno de los oasis que se encuentran en el altiplano de la II Región del país.

En esta zona geográfica se encuentran algunas de las más altas cumbres de la Cordillera de los Andes.

Su importancia, se debe a que es considerada la capital arqueológica de Chile y a lo extremo de su entorno geográfico, privilegiado en cuanto a la hermosura de sus paisajes y al azul de sus cielos siempre despejados. Su principal actividad económica es el turismo seguido por la agricultura menor.

San Pedro se ha convertido en el centro de partida de la actividad turística y de las excursiones por la región. Otra característica es su ambiente marcadamente cosmopolita debido a que es visita obligada de los turistas que vienen a Chile, especialmente de Europa.
