L'essai a été réalisé à chaud mais sous la température de soudage (<1300°C) à laquelle on travaillait alors le fer puddlé. Dans ce test, les déformations sont perpendiculaires à la fibre du métal, ce qui a provoqué l'effondrement de la structure fibreuse de la barre. The test was realized after a heating under the welding temperature (<1300°C) usually used to forge puddled iron. In this test, the strains are perpendicular of the fibre, which results in the collapse of the fibrous bar.
