Description
Español: Puccinia graminis en sección transversal de hoja de agracejo (Berberis vulgaris) con espermatogonios y aecios. Los espermatogonios, presentes en el haz (cara superior) son + ó −, según fuera la basidiospora de cuya germinación deriven, y producen espermacios, unicelulares, e hifas receptivas que son igualmente + ó −. Los espermatogonios producen un néctar que atrae a moscas, facilitando que los espermacios, que son adhesivos, sean transportados de un espermatogonio a otro, donde, si éste es de signo distinto, cumplirán su función. De la fusión de un espermacio con una célula de una hifa receptiva de distinto signo surge un nuevo micelio, dicariótico (con células binucleadas), que se extiende atravesando de la hoja, produciendo esporangios, llamados aecios, en el envés (cara inferior). Los aecios producen esporas dicarióticas (aeciosporas) destinadas a infectar los tallos del trigo (Triticum).
English: Cross section of barberry leaf (Berberis vulgaris) with spermogonia and aecia of wheat stem rust (Puccinia graminis). The upper face spermogonia are + or -, depending on the basidiospore from whose germination they derive, and produce spermatia, unicellular, and receptive hyphae, which are also + or -. Spermogonia produce a nectar that attracts flies, making it easier for the spermatias, which are adhesive, to be transported from one spermatogonium to another, where, if this one is of a different sign, they will fulfill their function. From the fusion of a spermatium with a cell of a receptive hypha of different sign arises a new mycelium, dicariótico (with binucleated cells), which extends across the leaf, producing sporangia, called aecia, on the underside. The aecia produces dicariotic spores (aeciospores) destined to infect the stems of the wheat (Triticum).
