helpto people? (b) The Story (Approximate), (i) Horses, cows, sheep,birds, insects, reptiles, flowers, trees—all kinds of animalsand all kinds of plants are Mother Natures children. (2) Barn swallows, bank swallows, swifts and beavers aremasons. Partridges and woodpeckers are drummers. Orioles,vireos and a few other birds are weavers. Fish-hawks arefishermen. All kinds of ducks are divers. The beavers andwoodpeckers are carpenters. The bees make honey. (3) The birds furnishmusic. The rabbits, deer and squirrelscan run very fast. The fireflies always carry lanterns. Thetrees are the tallest of the children. Flowers, birds andbutterflies wear the prettiest clothes. (4) Sugar cane, beets and maple trees give us sugar. Thebeech, walnut, oak, butternut, chestnut, almond and someother trees give us nuts. The pine tree has thousands ofneedles. Wasps make paper houses. (5) Woodchucks, bears, frogs, toads, snakes and manyplants sleep all winter. Mother Nature wakes all of themin the spring.
