Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Public bridleway to Church Lane. This view was taken from the public bridleway - Home Piece Road - which starts as a footpath by the gate to St Andrew's > 1329931. The path is one of the ten circular walks branching off the Wherrymans Way, skirting the northern edge of the churchyard, then leading east, linking with The Street in the village of Claxton, further to the north-east. The circular walk continues to Rockland St Mary from there. The track marks the route of the 1928 extension of a narrow gauge railway which between 1926 and 1936 ran the 1.6 kilometres from Claxton Manor Farm > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1330137 to the south bank of the River Yare > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1552521 - in 1928 it was extended south to Staines Barn (seen in the background), just east of the church. The railway transported sugar beet which were loaded onto wherries and transported to the Cantley sugar factory > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1467475 which is situated several kilometres to the north-east.
