A standing room only crowd of over 1,000 awaits the start of a meeting about the San Onofre nuclear power plant in Dana Point, Calif. The meeting featured a roundtable discussion about issues at the plant, followed by questions from the audience on October 9, 2012. Elmo Collins (right), Administrator of the NRC’s Region IV, answers questions from reporters Monday about a Tuesday night public meeting on issues at the San Onofre nuclear plant. He said the NRC will not allow the plant to restart unless it is convinced the plant can be operated safely. On the left is Victor Dricks, a public affairs officer in the region.
