Summary

[edit]
Description
English: First illustration on page 63 (82) captioned "Wollaston's Single Meniscus, F/11". According to Kingslake (1989), the meniscus lens was proposed by Wollaston in 1812 as an improvement to the biconvex lens used in camera obscuras, providing a flatter field, but was later found to exhibit severe chromatic abberration.
