The protester in the foreground is using his jacket as a pillow and a torn cardboard carton as a mattress as he sleeps next to two bottles of water, a small bag of bread (just visible behind his head) and two Egyptian flags. The dark cloud in the background soon brings rainfall and the protesters shrug off the inconvenience with smiles and cries of "Allahu Akbar". On the gates of parliament someone has posted a poster which appears to request an investigation into the 70 billion dollars allegedly appropriated from the nation by President Mubarak and his family. Experts estimated the Mubarak family fortune at somewhere between 40 and 70 billion dollars. They held huge balances in Swiss and British bank accounts along with expensive real estate in Sharm El Sheikh, London, New York and Los Angeles ( according to the Guardian 4 February 2011) and also in Washington DC, Paris, Madrid, Dubai and Frankfurt ( according to IHS Global Insight ). Meanwhile official government figures showed that as of 2011, about one quarter of Egypt's population lived on an income of less than 8.5LE (approximately equivalent to one euro) a day and about four million on less than 5.7LE a day.
