| Description |
English: Operated by 51 Squadron based at RAF Snaith, JN920 was shot down by flak over Kasterlee, Belgium, on 22nd October 1943. All seven crew were lost.
The crew were:- Sergeant C.E. Hall (RCAF) - Pilot Sergeant M.S. Williams - Flight Engineer Sergeant G.H. Bennett - Navigator Sergeant E.Parker - Bomb aimer Sergeant R.S.Sitch – Radio Operator Sergeant J.C.Cowie - Mid upper gunner and Sergeant T.V.Lewis - Tail gunner The site was excavated in 1998 after which a memorial was erected. This was the first memorial to an individual British Aircrew known to have been unviled in Belgium. Wings Museum, Balcombe, West Sussex, UK 20th August 2020 |
