Description

"Sheep fence" is used in our livestock access lanes where sheep are trailed to the river to water. This type of fence can be a problem for pronghorn to cross, as they prefer to crawl under a fence. The majority (99%) of the fence at Seedskadee NWR is wildlife friendlier with a smooth bottom wire 16 inches above the ground surface that pronghorn can crawl under. In this situation, the pronghorn buck simply jumped the fence, showing they can jump a fence. However most pronghorn still prefer crawling under, and many never jump a fence.
