Description

Maart 2006 KPN lanceert een nieuw narrowcasting project op basis van Wi-Fi: Streetlight. In een lantaarnpaal zijn een tweetal beeldschermen gemonteerd, hopelijk hufterproof, die via draadloos internet in staat zijn om multimediale content te tonen. De bovenste toont advertenties, het kleinere onderste LCD-scherm publieke info, zoals het weer en openbaar vervoer updates. Het bovenste scherm wordt bewaakt met behulp van een camera, die uiteraard ook als beveiligingscam in te zetten is. De 1e Streetlight Wi-Fi straatlantaarn is voor het stadhuis van de gemeente Zoetermeer geplaatst.

Februari 2008

De gemeente Zoetermeer verwijdert twee interactieve straatlantaarns, die begin 2006 op proef bij het gemeentehuis werden neergezet. De proef heeft 'waardevolle kennis opgeleverd'. Voor één Streetlight is een nieuwe plek gevonden. In de Dorpsstraat in Zoetermeer kan iedere voorbijganger op het beeldscherm in de paal het spel ‘Virtueel kasteel Palenstein' spelen.
