Procession for the Fiesta de San Esteban, Acoma Pueblo, 1886
Photograph of a procession for the Fiesta de San Esteban, Acoma Pueblo, 1886. A procession of about a dozen Acoma Indians are visible from the back dancing in front of the kisi. They are wearing traditional garments including elaborate headpieces. The kisi is located in the grouping in the center of trees and shrubs. The building behind the dancers is made of adobe and wood. The rafter tails are exposed. Ladders lean against the buildings which are pierced with windows. Several onlookers observe from the roof of the building.
