Probable Roman dress pin
Description
English: Copper-alloy pin of probable Roman date. The head is decorated with reel-baluster-bead from top to bottom. The shaft is unusual in that it is not round but oval or elliptical in section. No exact parallel found but similar to Colchester Type 6 (see ref. below), which is a bone example. Measures 85.7mm long. Pin head is 10.5mm diameter, by 3.7mm thick. Shaft is 3.2mm thick. Weight = 9.62g.
