Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1915, this Gothic Revival and Commercial-style building, also known as the Film Exchange Building, was designed by Victor DeBrauere for the Printers Exchange, which stored movie films in large vaults within the building for nearby movie theaters. The building later became known as The Fur Mart after the L. A. Rockler Fur Company moved into the building, which remains the primary occupant. The building features a brick and concrete structure with this being expressed on the sides and rear with a simple, industrial appearance and steel factory windows, with a front facade made of terra cotta and featuring large one-over-one double-hung windows, Gothic Revival trim details and spandrel panel motifs, decorative pilasters, a side entrance with a gothic arched transom, several quatrefoil trim motifs, and a band of decorative trim at the top of the parapet. The building is a contributing structure in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
