Related to the central panel of Rubens' triptych 'The Resurrection of Christ' in the Cathedral of Antwerp (Rooses 334); which was painted for the tomb of Jan I Moretus and his wife Martina in the St Barbara Chapel. This print was issued as a black and white facsimile by the British Museum in 'Reproductions of Prints in the British Museum', New Series Part VII (Specimens of Line-engraving by Masters of the Netherlands Schools Under the Influence of Rubens and Van Dyck (About 1620-1660)), Published by the Trustees in 1898, where it was number IV and described there as 'Scheltius À Bolswert. Resurrection of Christ: after Rubens.'; see 1899,03.22.62.4 (Shelfmark 245*.b.21). |
