Description The view east along the western end of Princes Street in Edinburgh, presumably taken from Scott Monument on a very long zoom lens. The number 26 bus is coming out of South St Andrew Street turning right, en route to Clerwood, which is not its normal route (it normally just runs along the full length of Princes street). The diversion is presumably due to the Edinburgh tram works. Similarly, the yellow sign is warning drivers to find alternative routes other than Leith Walk, which is being dug up, all the while reassuring pedestrians that its shops were open as normal. Understandably this disruption greatly annoyed traders at the time, but their anger must have only increased once they realised that the delays and cost over-runs of the project meant the initial tram route didn't even reach that far - the initial route actually runs along Princes Street and then turns left here to go up South St Andrew Street, terminating in York Place, just short of the south end of Leith Walk.
