English: Prince Philip (right) waits at Giebelstadt airfield for his aircraft - presumably a De Havilland Devon - for the return flight to London, on 2 December 1958. Here in conversation with two officers of the US Air Force Europe, Giebelstadt base. (Photocopy comes from heritage StOV (BW) Veitshöchheim, folder B, today in the holdings of the Giebelstadt market town archives). Notes on the above-mentioned aircraft type De Havilland DH-104 Devon and the arrival and departure days of the Prince Philip at/from Giebelstadt airfield in the 1950s: De Havilland DH.104 Dove, milit. Devon C. Mk.2 version of the Royal Aircraft Establishment. This short-haul transport aircraft was presumably used by Prince Philip on his three flights from and/or to Giebelstadt (USAF Air Base) between 1954 and 1959. According to reports in the Ochsenfurter Zeitung, the exact dates of take-off and landing are backdated from the date of issue of the newspaper:
