English: Digital art depicting Air Force Col. J.C. Millard, 89th Airlift Wing commander, members of the 89th AW flightline protocol office and a Marine corporal saluting as Air Force One departs Joint Base Andrews, Md. Air Force One is a call sign given to any aircraft the President of the United States is aboard. Typically, the president flies on one of two VC-25As from the 89th AW’s Presidential Airlift Group. The president, vice president, secretary of state, secretary of defense, first lady and other senior leaders also travel aboard 1st Airlift Squadron C-32As and C-40Bs, and 99th Airlift Squadron C-20Bs and C-37A/Bs. The 89th AW prides itself on enabling national interests through global transportation for America’s senior leaders, ensuring their travels are safe, comfortable, reliable, connected and protected, all accomplished by the four groups of the 89th Airlift Wing, which are the 89th Operations Group, 89th Airlift Support Group, 89th Maintenance Group and PAG; this entire operation is supported by Joint Base Andrews, consisting of the host 11th Wing, 79th Medical Wing and other partner units.
