Description
English: Preserved London Transport bus T1 (reg. THX 401S), pictured heading south down the slip road to merge with traffic on the A12 Blackwall Tunnel Approach Road, in Bow, East London. It's operating a special journey on London Buses route 8 along with several other preserved buses, to mark the last day of ordinary operation of the Routemaster type on the route. It has just entered the slip road via the Wick Lane over-pass of the A12 (which is where the photographer is standing), and will now use the A12 for a short journey south, before turning right again to head west along the Bow Road (the A11), to terminate at Bow Church. Behind the bus is the plant and equipment of the Bow site of Plasmor Limited, a paving block manufacturer. See the closeup image of the bus for further details of its history and appearance.
