Description
Français : Description : L'évêché, aussi appelé palais épiscopal, a été érigé de 1879 à 1881. De style Second Empire ou néo-Renaissance française, ce bel édifice a été construit par l'entrepreneur Pierre Jolette d'après les plans de l'architecte R. Caisse. L'édifice possède un élégant toit mansardé et est revêtu de pierre de taille bosselée de couleur grise. L'ornementation, les bandeaux, la corniche à consoles, le contour des ouvertures et les chaînages d'angle ont été réalisés en pierre de taille lisse tandis que le soubassement est formé de gros blocs de granit plus foncés. Très symétrique, la façade du bâtiment est composée de deux ailes latérales et d'une avancée centrale où l'on retrouve l'entrée principale et la grande lucarne à fronton ornée d'ailerons et de bas-reliefs.
