Plate 5 represents the inferior outlet of afemale pelvis ; this selection was purposely made, because thefemale pelvic outlet is of more practical importance than themale, while it illustrates, for both sexes, the bone areas afford-ing attachments to muscles and fasciae. Dissection.—The dissection of the perineum, the sub-peritoneal viscera,and portions of viscera, at the outlet of the pelvis, being now completed, theviscera should be returned to the pelvic cavity; the skin-flaps of the perineumshould be brought together at the pelvic outlet, and the same sutured, by thecontinued suture, along the median line.
