Português: O nome da praça foi dado ao Doutor Alberto Novis a partir da Lei 1.315/73, em homenagem aos inúmeros serviços prestados à população. Novis viveu por anos na Rua Voluntários da Pátria em frente a atual Secretaria de Estado de Turismo. Apesar de surdo, foi o primeiro médico otorrinolaringologista com especialização em Mato Grosso, prestando grandes serviços à população cuiabana. Ele também foi o primeiro Deputado do Estado de Mato Grosso (1908 a 1912) e publicou diversos artigos, sendo reconhecido também como jornalista. |
