English: Poundworld closing down sale, Commercial Street, Newport. Viewed on July 14th 2018. The previous day, the BBC website reported that a further 80 Poundworld stores will be closed, resulting in 1,024 job losses. The latest announcement from administrators Deloitte means that 105 of the company's 335 stores are now earmarked for closure. Poundworld went into administration in June 2018 after failing to cope with rising costs, fewer shoppers and greater competition. Deloitte said that talks to sell remaining parts of the business continue. It has not been possible to sell the business as a whole. |
