English: Pound Lane, Christchurch Stray animals in the Borough were confined by the Hayward near this spot in the ancient manorial Town Pound. A feature of the town for centuries, its walls incorporated stone said to be from the old Bargate. It was demolished when the bypass was constructed in 1958. |
